Our Magazine Front Cover

To start with we had to decide what type of image we wanted on the front cover of our magazine, this was quite a hard decision as this would be the main focal point of the magazine, we thought about maybe having both of them together on the front however we felt this wouldn't look like the research image so we then thought maybe a image of just her would look professional, we looked at more Interview magazine covers to give us a better idea of what type of image we wanted.

Here are six different front covers by interview magazine they all feature people on there own I really like all of them and they all look really creative which I think is what we want to create when we are creating our front cover. they are all very different and don't necessarily have a particular layout of each issue, which will give us a lot of freedom when it comes to creating our front cover, this will also make our front cover very unique. So we decided that we wanted to use an image of our female character which would allow us to create a cover like the research images. Here are some pictures of the photo-shoot which we were going to choose before we chose our final image:
We decided to go with a 60's theme as we felt this would make our magazine cover stand out and create a really strong image. We really liked the image in the top right as we felt it was a really strong image however you cannot see her face clearly, and we felt this wouldn't work as the front cover image. we decided to use a close up shot as this would make an impact when people look at it. To create the colours we used a number of different tools here is the tools we used to create our magazine cover:

This is the levels tool it allowed us to create different levels of colours within the image and edit the different amount of shadows within our image, which would enable us to create a front cover like Interview, we wanted to get shadows across her face which would allow us to create different coloured shadows creating a painted effect which is very much like the research we found of the front cover where she had the coloured effect over her face. We played around with this tool until we found our desired effect.

This is Hue/Saturation tool we used this tool to use most of the coloring within the image we decided that we wanted to create a blue orange and green tinged to our image we played around with this tool until we created an effect which we really liked and thought would work really well, it created some really interesting shadows and effects. We felt it also really looked like our research image which i felt worked really well.

Here is our magazine cover I am very pleased with the outcome of our magazine cover as I think it looks a lot like the research image that we found. The image looks very professional and has a really unique look to it. The image is also very striking, which I think will catch reader’s eye when it is placed on a magazine stand. the cover looks very much like the research image we

found which I am very pleased about as I think that it looks really creative. Although our magazine cover does not fit with the normal conventions of a film magazine, i think it looks really professional. There is not much information on the cover of our magazine, however this is what we needed in order for it to look like an issue of Interview magazine. When we were looking over the cover we realised that "Georgia" didn't stand out against the background colour we think that it is vital that the main actresses name stands out so we are going to change it and make a second copy.
Here is our second copy:

As you can see from the image above we have now changed the colour of the text, it now stands out a lot more and you can easily see what the text says. I think that the image looks a lot more effective as you can now see the main female characters name clearly which is essential to advertising our film properly. I am very happy with the outcome of our magazine i think it looks very professional and will catch peoples eye which is what we wanted to achieve.
