Evaluation

Through all of our products, including our magazine cover, DVD cover, film poster and film teaser trailer, I believe that we have created some very professional work, as each product follows true to the typical standard of its format. For example; our magazine cover, has a professional feel about it, as it looks almost identical to a typical ‘Interview’ magazine cover. What I love about the cover is the fierce look that our main character has, I think this will catch the audiences attention when placed against other film magazines as the bright contest between the colours will really make it stand out. I also believe our film poster is of the same high standard, the picture on the poster looks really professional and compliments our film title perfectly. When you see the magazine cover and film poster next to each you wouldn't think they were advertising the same film, however this is what we wanted to create as we felt our magazine would really promote our film to our target audience. Also we wanted to create a really strong contrast between the two in order to show our versatility in advertising methods. As for the trailer itself I believe that it has so many successful points, and I think we have create a really strong trailer. My favourite shot in the trailer is where he is playfully chasing her down the stairs, I think it worked amazingly well and really captured the chemistry between both of them and enforced the genre of our trailer. Similarly I also think that the end montage of the clips that we have put together look really successful, with the twist on the normal ending to a romance film. This by far is the most professional section of our trailer as it really portrays the role of the male character well and it creates a really tense atmosphere when the audience watch this part of the trailer. The titles also really compliment the mood of the trailer which in turn creates a really strong ending. There where many difficulties when we were creating our trailer, mainly with the editing of the footage, also with capturing the filming and making sure is was to a high standard. To overcome these difficulties we had to work together as a team in order to make our end product successful . The biggest difficulty we had to overcome was choosing the accompaniment that would compliment our trailer, we knew we had to get this right as it is what some people to remember about a trailer and what they might research to find our trailer. After we had chosen the music we felt the rest of the editing flowed really well and we didn't have many problems after that. We just had to focus on the glitches and small things that when you watch it the first time you might not see. We noticed them the most in transitions between clips and this really gave us a chance get our trailer up to a really high standard. Another difficulty we found was the when we filmed on the flip HD camera and put it in our trailer, the next time we opened our project on final cut, we found that it flashed red and said "media offline" which we found quite frustrating as we had to keep replacing our footage. Once we had overcome all of these difficulties I think we have created a really strong, professional trailer that I am really pleased with and I think all of our hard work has defiantly payed off. There are many strengths to our trailer however there is also many weaknesses. The weaknesses that stand out within our trailer are I do think that people may get confused with the narrative of it, as i do feel some people may find the transition to the sad part confusing. I also feel the camera quality is very poor and i think if we was to do it again we should use a higher quality camera so that we could get the best quality filming this would also help with the lighting in the footage as I also think that was quite poor throughout, however I think we made the best of what we had and it resulted in a good trailer. With the poster I also feel that the only thing that may confuse the audience is the title i think that some people won't understand the title meaning two things that both relate to the film which are "intimate" then we put the hands over the t and i to make it look like "in-mate" which is the prison. I think maybe it will have to be explained to the audience before they understand what the title actually means. The magazine I feel doesn't have many weaknesses as we have kept it to a true likeness of the Andy Warhol style which is what we needed to re-create. However I feel that we could have advertised our film more on the cover, so that people knew it was advertising a film. Overall i feel our end product is really strong and we have tried really hard to fit the conventions of the romance genre.
